In a previous article we examined how in the Last Days the fallen angels, posing as extraterrestrials, will teach humanity how to worship ourselves as gods. But how does the 7th day Sabbath tie into the promulgation of self-worship?

First, let’s clarify what the Sabbath is and what it is not. The Sabbath is the 7th day of the week, Biblically-defined as sunset Friday to sunset Saturday. God never changed the Sabbath from Saturday to Sunday (the 1st day of the week) and Christians will be hard-pressed to find any Scriptural justification for the change: it simply doesn’t exist. There is no command from God in the Bible instructing us to worship on the first day of the week instead of the seventh. So where did Christians get the idea to change the Sabbath to Sunday? It turns out that the change occurred well after the Bible was written and is primarily attributed to the early Roman Catholic Church. In order to “convert” pagans in the Roman Empire to Christianity, in the fourth century Emperor Constantine simply repurposed the pre-existing “Venerable Day of the Sun” to be the new Christian “Sabbath”. Since all the pagans were already worshipping Mithra (the Roman sun god) on Sundays it was an easy transition for Roman society to make. The change to the Sunday “Sabbath” was the result of Christianity compromising God’s Commandments in favor of manmade traditions. Therefore, when Christians choose to worship on the first day of the week, instead of God’s appointed 7th-day Sabbath, they are letting human traditions determine how they worship God, rather than following the way God instructed.

In the Last Days, fallen angels will try to teach us to worship ourselves and that humanity is itself divine. By means of meditation and “seeking answers from within” the fallen angels will convince many that they don’t need to worship a “higher power” for salvation, and that instead all we need to do is “seek the light that already exists within us.”

Even Christians will be misled by these false teachings. These “extraterrestrials” will twist the Scriptures to justify their teachings. They will point to 1 Corinthians 6:19 “Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God?” – Notice that they will likely drop the end of that verse: “You do not belong to yourself,” because it undermines the lie they will be selling. They’ll also use part of Genesis 1:27 to convince humanity that we ourselves are divine and worthy of our own worship: “So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them;”

Worshipping Idols vs. Worshipping God

Throughout the Bible, especially the Old Testament, there are many references to idol worship and how it is an abomination to God. Most Christians today are pretty clear that it is not ok to bow down and worship a statue (Catholics could probably use a little help with this one though, sorry!). Over and over again throughout the Bible God makes it clear that we should worship the Creator, not the creation. Romans 1:25: “They traded the truth about God for a lie. So they worshiped and served the things God created instead of the Creator Himself, who is worthy of eternal praise! Amen.”

The worship of ourselves, or even of “humanity” in general is just another form of idolatry – we are God’s creation, just like the trees that were carved into pagan idols, or the sun in the sky, worshipped by so many ancient cultures. Just because God’s Holy Spirit dwells within our hearts, making us temples of God, doesn’t make us inherently divine. In ancient Israel, the Israelites thought that because God’s temple was in Jerusalem that it somehow imparted special protection on the city. But the only reason the temple in Jerusalem was holy was because God dwelled in it. When the Israelites sinned and turned from God He departed His temple and even gave it into the hands of the Babylonians to be destroyed (and later on again by the Romans). The physical building itself was not inherently divine or holy, but it was made holy when God dwelled in it. When God departed the temple it was just a building again. Similarly, our physical bodies are not inherently divine or holy, but they are made holy when we permit God to dwell in our hearts. If we sin, grieve the Holy Spirit and willfully disobey God, putting ourselves in His throne in our hearts, we displace Him and we are no longer holy (righteous) in His sight.

Likewise, the “Sunday Sabbath” is a creation of man and by choosing to worship on a manmade holiday rather than God’s appointed holiday you are committing a form of idolatry. The Great Delusion in the Last Days will be all about who we worship and the deception will focus on getting mankind to worship ourselves instead of God – this will include not only New Age teachings about meditation and the divinity of humanity, but also about the importance of upholding manmade traditions like the “Sunday Sabbath”.
